The Balancing Act: Mom Life VS Entrepreneurship

The Balancing Act: Mom Life VS Entrepreneurship

How many times have you planned out the “perfect” workday… only for some family emergency to come up and stop you in your tracks?

How many times have you skipped cooking dinner to squeeze in extra work?
Or put the post you planned on hold because you got completely distracted with getting things done in the house?
I’d be lying if I told you it didn’t happen to the best of us.  If you’re a mompreneur [mommy entrepreneur] and are living this right now… drop a comment for me becauseI'd love to hear from you. 🙋🏽‍♀️

Whether it’s the lack of time you’re spending with your kids (at work or otherwise). The not-so-healthy food you give them when you have no more time to make dinner. 🥴

Or the picture-perfect photos of them you’re not posting on Instagram — it’s easy in our consumer-driven, hyper-aware culture to feel like you’re not doing a good enough job at this whole parenting thing.

For a long time, I let myself believe that leaving my son to do something for myself was neglecting him. I had become invisible to myself and my needs, and that is a very dangerous hole to fall into. 🌀

For 3 years I didn’t take my son to school or pick him up (Dad did).🤭 I was so focused on building my career and my husband supported me in every way.  But I was the mom that other moms looked-down on at the yearly Christmas recital or parent-teacher interviews because no one had ever really seen me. 😔

How do we balance being a mom who has big dreams OUTSIDE her family, and still has big dreams FOR her family?

It starts with giving yourself permission to be the best version of YOU for THEM. [READ THAT AGAIN]

🛑 Stop trying to live up to social media’s opinion on what the “perfect mom” does or how she acts.

Find a way that works for YOU.
I’m a time-blocker 🕓. I set time blocks for different days depending on my schedule, and work my day around my mommy/wife/entrepreneur obligations. 🤣

Here's an example of a regular weekday for me...

I love being a mom, there is nothing more fulfilling than this job that I have... BUT I have also learned that sacrificing NOW with my little guy, to live the life I want for my family LATER is not something to beat myself up about.

You’ll never have it all figured out and that’s okay because none of us do...
In the end, it will all be worth it.

Shout out to all the moms!
You are loved. You are appreciated. You got this!!
